Der Countdown läuft… Jetzt sind es nur noch ein paar Stunden, bis das achte Umweltfotofestival »Horizonte Zingst« eröffnet wird. Eine der größten Schauen ist die Ausstellung »One World« und sieben fotogloria-Fotografen sind mit ihren Arbeiten dabei!
In der letzten Woche haben wir Ihnen bereits sechs Fotografen mit ihren Arbeiten und Kurator Klaus Tiedge vorgestellt – zum Abschluss des fotogloria-Horizonte-Countdowns zeigen wir Ihnen heute nun die »Golden Cameras« von fotogloria-Fotograf Nicoló Minerbi. Wir sehen uns in Zingst.
WHAT
A bunch of shots about the Golden Gate Bridge. At the very first sight this is what it seems. But in the reality it is not at all. Or at least, not only. As a matter of fact the Western iconic bridge is just a pretext, an opportunity to experience how much photography has changed through the years. And since photography needs tools to express itself, it’s always important to know them, with their pro and cons, in order to fully understand the way we see things, people and life and therefore the way we remember them all and how we leave them as a legacy.

WHY
Tot capita tot sententiae (latin for many heads, so many opinions). Thing is, every single photographer always has his own point of view. Imagine to have a bunch of them at your beach party. You won’t get the same photo ever. It’s a matter of the photographer’s taste, style, skill, mood and approach. On top of that, especially in the film era, different cameras used to take different shots. Because of the lenses, because of the quality, because of the format. Because of the magic. The idea of this Golden Cameras selection is to show how different the icon of the West used to looked like through the years, without changing a thing, but having the photographic tools improved instead. The subject was always the same, kind of a parameter to test, to experiment new photographic languages and futuristic equipment, from the Ansel Adams style camera to the iPhone.
HOW
Every diptych shows the camera used for shooting the picture below. Every single camera comes with its own historical background, with the dust of its own legend on top of it. Such as the Argus Autronic (35mm camera used by assassination witness Phil Willis to make a series of pictures before, during and after the John F. Kennedy assassination on November 22, 1963. Willis was standing on the south side of Elm Street during the shooting). Or the Hasselblad that shot either a star, Marilyn Monroe, and the Moon or the Leica M7 with the glorious Summicron lens (in this case the homage is to the famous Gianni Berengo Gardin’s and Elliott Erwitt’s shots).
WHO
Thing is, different cameras give different photos. It’s hard to imagine doing macro photography with a street photography camera such as the Leica M7 nor using the Polaroid to do sport events. I mean, you can, but the shots you’ll get out of them will be heavily influenced by the camera you pick for the job. Back in those days with film and darkrooms, the combination of the lenses and films made it all. Nowadays app such as Instagram or Snapseed brought darkrooms in everyone’s pocket.
